Metropolitan West School Sport encourages all students in affiliated schools to participate in an inclusive environment with their peers at district, regional, state and national level.

Athletes are selected from the regional trial to compete at the Queensland School Sport State Championships for ages 10–12 years and 13–19 years in:

  • swimming
  • cross country
  • track and field
  • aquathlon and triathlon

Qualifying standards are calculated for each sport. Students wishing to nominate in a multi-class event for the Metropolitan West School Sport swimming, cross country or track and field regional trials must do so through their school and in turn, be included in the district team nominations for these events and compete at the Metropolitan West School Sport regional trial. Students wishing to nominate in a multi-class aquathlon or triathlon regional trial must nominate online via the Triathlon Queensland website. Metropolitan West School Sport use the the Triathlon Queensland event to select students for the Metropolitan West School Sport Aquathlon and Triathlon team.
