’Fair Game’
Metropolitan West School Sport would like to unveil our ‘Fair Game’ number design which will be placed on all our numbered on-field playing apparel. A huge thank you to the artist Barbara Peeters. Barb is a proud aboriginal woman and descendant of the Wuthathi clan of Shellburne Bay Cape York. Barb is a self-taught artist who takes inspiration from family, life connections and her love of fashion and colours. Sport has and continues to play a huge role in Barb’s life.
Barb called her art piece ‘Fair Game’ because like all of us who love our sport, win, lose or draw, if the game is played fairly, it leaves us with a sense of harmony.
The 'Fair Game' design has been sectioned into 5 parts, each section of the design represents one of our five districts. The boomerangs throughout the art piece marked with the Metropolitan West School Sport initials are a symbol of game and sport. The round symbols placed throughout the art are representing the athletes coming together and the meeting places of the athletes. The upside down U symbol represents some of many thousands of student athletes who compete and officials who volunteer within our Queensland School Sport program.
