Metropolitan West region is one of 12 regions created to provide and manage representative school sport in Queensland from the early 80’s. While each of these regions is a unit of Education Queensland, any student from an affiliated school, is eligible to trial for selection in any regional team.
The Metropolitan West School Sport Board is responsible for the provision and administration of primary and secondary school sport in the western and south-western suburbs of Brisbane, through Ipswich and the Lockyer and Fassifern Valleys. Under the Metropolitan West School Sport banner sit 5 districts and in excess of 100,000 students from more than 200 individual schools.
Metropolitan West School Sport encourages all students in affiliated schools to participate in regional sporting events. In order to progress beyond this level however, athletes wishing to compete in a multi-class event need to be correctly classified. Please see the
Multi-class events page for further information.
Metropolitan West is proud of its history and reputation: both of which have been achieved through a passion for students and their sporting endeavours and the hard work and dedication of its staff.
